â€ťI have been involved with EPSC for about 11 years, and in that time I have seen it grow into the Club it is today. We have had a tremendous year this year, winning 4 galas. Next year we hope to have many of our swimmers qualify for the Kent county championships. I have a belief that with hard work & determination we can make our Club a force to be reckoned with.”

As swimmers progress within the Club, they gain increased stamina in preparation for promotion into the Club’s competition squads. Between the ages of 9 -13 they can be selected by the Head Coach to compete in the Kent Junior League. In the more competitive squads, swimmers progress from inter-club galas to County, District and National competitions. The Club regularly has representatives in Kent County championships. EPSC also competes in the National Swimming League.

Each year the Club travels to several inter-club galas, but also organizes and runs a number of swimming competitions taking place in its own pool. We also hold our own Club Championships at the end of the year.

As a general rule, movement between competitive squads is subject to swimmers meeting the relevant criteria, available space within the squad or group and current available pool time.  A certain amount of coach’s discretion is also used to determine an individual swimmer’s suitability to meet the demands of the squad or group.   Selection for galas and open meets (where applicable) will also reflect a swimmer’s suitability.

Swimmers moving within the competitive squads will also need to complete a one month trial in their new squad to demonstrate they can achieve the required level of training and attendance.
